Our Teachers

Vidya Subramanian

Vidya Subramanian began learning Bharatanatyam at VIDA, where she trained for over 7 years before performing her arangetram, alongside Madhu Katragadda, in 2013. That same year, she took her passion further by stepping into teaching, guiding students across all levels—from beginners to advanced dancers. Today, she specializes in teaching Beginner and Intermediate level batches. In addition to her teaching role, Vidya works in the finance industry and enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and son.

Madhu Katragadda

Madhu Katragadda performed her arangetram in 2013, alongside Vidya Subramanian, following over 7 years of training at VIDA. With her years of experience, she has mentored both Intermediate and Senior level students, helping them refine their performing skills. Currently, Madhu focuses on teaching Beginner and Intermediate level batches. In addition to teaching Bharatanatyam, Madhu works in the technology industry and enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys.

Selvi Mohanraj

Selvi Mohanraj earned her Certificate of Course Completion in Bharatanatyam from VIDA in 2014, following 9 years of dedicated training. Since then, she has been passionately teaching Beginner and Intermediate level batches, guiding students to develop a strong foundation in the art form. In addition to her teaching role, Selvi works as a consultant in the life sciences industry. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, son, daughter, and her pet bunny, Oatly.

Varshini Kannan

Varshini Kannan completed her training in Bharatanatyam at VIDA. Varshini is dedicated to expanding her repertoire and enhancing her dancing abilities. As a passionate teacher, she specializes in Montessori education and is an entrepreneur, establishing her own micro-school, Bodhi Montessori. In her personal life, Varshini enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, son, and their “gentle giant” of a dog, Bolt.   

Our Staff

Punam Sinha

Punam Sinha is VIDA’s Arangetram Advisor. Punam guides arangetram graduates through the planning and logistics for an arangetram event, ensuring their journey to the stage is seamless. 

Kavita Muralidharan

Kavita Muralidharan is VIDA’s Costume Coordinator. Kavita’s role is to coordinate hair, jewelry, and costume presentation for VIDA performances and photoshoots, helping dancers bring their character’s role to life for performances.

Aju Sahota

Aju Sahota is VIDA’s Makeup Artist, specializing in Bharatanatyam makeup. Aju has created stunning character looks for VIDA’s performances and photoshoots, making every element of the dancer’s abhinaya complements their performance.

Anirudh Muralidharan

Anirudh is VIDA’s website designer and administrator, responsible for developing the site’s overall structure, user interface, visual elements, and user experience optimization. He works closely with his sister, Ritu, to create and curate content for the VIDA website. Anirudh graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a degree in Technology and Information Management. He is passionate about Bharatanatyam—its technique and presentation, history, and sculptural presence—and is currently a student at VIDA.

Our Teaching Assistants

Aditi Vepa

Aditi is a graduate of VIDA, and received her Certificate of Course Completion in 2014. In addition to her accomplishments as a dancer, Aditi received her undergraduate in Business Information Systems from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and currently works as a Senior Manager in Cybersecurity. 

Ritu Muralidharan

Ritu is a graduate of VIDA and performed her arangetram in 2015. As a teaching assistant, she is passionate about inspiring the next generation of dancers to engage deeply with Bharatanatyam. Along with her brother, Anirudh, Ritu helped design VIDA’s website and create its content. Ritu earned a degree in Transportation Planning from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and currently works as a Senior Transportation Planner.

Anjana Mohanraj

Anjana Mohanraj graduated from VIDA in 2020. She currently serves as a teaching assistant for the advanced-level batch, helping guide students through the final years of their Bharatanatyam training prior to course completion. Anjana attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, and graduated in 2025 with a degree in Computer Engineering.

Rithika Chalamcharla

Rithika is an enthusiastic VIDA graduate, and received her Certificate of Course Completion award in 2024. She is a teaching assistant for an advanced-level batch, helping guide and inspire students in their Bharatanatyam training. 

Tanya Ramachandran

Tanya is a proud VIDA student, scheduled to perform her arangetram in the summer of 2026. She is a very dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistant in the adult-level class that includes both upper-level beginners and intermediate students. 

Moksha Chandragiri

Moksha is a dedicated advanced-level student at VIDA. She is an enthusiastic teaching assistant for an intermediate-level class. Moksha is helping train VIDA  students for the advanced stage of their dance repertoire.

Anakha Manoj

Anakha is a dedicated advanced student at VIDA. She is an enthusiastic teaching assistant for a beginner-level class. Anakha loves interacting with kids and enjoys being part of their dance journey.

Amana Anuganti

Amana is a proud advanced-level student at VIDA. In addition to her dance training, she has been helping part-time as a teaching assistant for an Intermediate level batch. Amana enjoys guiding students and is eager to be a part of the instructional team at Vrindavan.

Shriya Ray

Shriya is a enthusiastic advanced-level student at VIDA. An ardent student of Indian and western dance, Shriya assists in teaching an upper level Intermediate Class. She connects with the students at their level while also managing to challenge them to do better.   

Sravani Yendrapati

Sravani  is a dedicated advanced-level student at VIDA.  She is a disciplined and steady learner who enjoys helping younger students advance in their dance journey. Sravani assists the beginner 2 class with focus and enthusiasm. 

Vedanshi Vempati

Vedanshi is a proud advanced-level student at VIDA. . She is passionate about Bharatanatyam and assists in teaching an intermediate-level class. Vedanshi enjoys interacting with the students and being a part of their dance journey. 

Our Partnerships

VIDA is an associate partner of Vedic Wellness University (VWU), an institution of Vedic Studies and Wellness in Florida. VWU offers programs in Wellness, including yoga, arts and culture, and Vedic studies. Dr. Bindu Shankar offers classes within VWU’s Certificate Course in Bharatanatyam for students enrolled in the program.
